4th & Gal exists because women have always watched football. We've called games from the couch, debated the fourth-down call at the dinner table, and carried our teams through losing seasons. We never needed a beginner's guide. We needed a publication that took us seriously.
We cover the NFL, college football, and the culture surrounding the game. We write for fans who already know what a nickel package is and want to talk about why the coordinator called it in third-and-short. We are not a gateway drug. We are the main event.
A few things we take seriously:
Lead with the take. We do not bury the point. Every piece has a position. You can disagree with us. That is fine. We will not write something carefully designed to be agreed with by everyone.
Back it with data. A take without evidence is a hunch. We cite our numbers, link our sources, and show the work. If we are going to say something happened, we will show you that it happened.
Cite sources. We do not paraphrase reporting from other outlets and present it as ours. When we build on someone else's work, we say so and link to it directly.
Admit when we're wrong. We correct the record in the same place we made the error, not in a footnote three weeks later. Getting it right matters more than protecting the take.
That is it. Football, done right, for the people who have always been here.
